Description Opromazine hydrochloride is an anti-infective agent that binds to the opiate receptor and inhibits the release of neurotransmitters. Opromazine hydrochloride has been shown to have synergistic effects when combined with gabapentin in human serum, which is a biological sample. Opromazine hydrochloride inhibits the replication of bacteria by binding to their nucleotide levels and preventing protein synthesis. It also binds to α1-acid glycoprotein, which is found in the blood, and prevents bacterial adhesion to tissue cells. The drug also binds to calmodulin and inhibits tricyclic antidepressants drugs such as desipramine, amitriptyline, nortriptyline, clomipramine, or imipramine.
