  • Biological Activity
Description Resiquimod is a low-molecular-weight immune response modifier. It is reported to possess anti-tumor and anti-viral properties. It has been shown to mimic pathogen associated molecular patterns, activating immune cells through TLR7 and TLR8 (Toll-like receptors 7 and 8). It can induce interferon-alpha sythesis as well as the synthesis of other cytokines in various cell types. Evidence suggests its efficacy again herpes simples virus (HSV) type 2 in vivo. It has been shown to up-regulate IFN-γ production and proliferation by memory CD4+ T cells. It has also been shown to mimic CD40-induced B cell activation. R-848 is an activator of TLR7 and TLR8.
