Description Jervine, coming from the herbs of Veratrum nigrum L, has antibacterial properties. Jervine demonstrates teratogenic properties. It is the starting material for C-nor-D-homosteroids. Jervine induces holoprosencephaly and blocks endogenous Sonic hedgehog signaling.Jervine binds with and inhibits smoothened, which is an integral part of the hedgehog signaling pathways.
